The past two weeks have seen major floods in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe, bringing home to those in the Developed World that the impacts of Climate Change are not just confined to the Global South, and are likely to be an ever worsening trend if drastic steps are not taken to move towards full decarbonization.
In the ancient Italian city of Venice, one of the areas worst hit by the Continental end of the deluge, the city’s council chamber appears to have been flooded out just moments after a Right Wing coalition voted out a previously tabled climate crisis plan; thus confirming claims by residents that those they have elected to govern them have scant regard for the people they have been entrusted to rule over. What went largely unreported, however, was the fact that this follows an earlier incident in which elements from the same same Right Wing parties responsible for the Venice Crisis gave a Parliamentary platform to a cabal of Climate Change Deniers with links to the UK Parliament, Media and Intelligence Services.
Among those linked to the deluge of disinformation currently being disseminated by this group of Climate Change Deniers is Christopher Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, whose sister, Rosa, is the wife of Dominic Lawson, sometime newspaper columnist and son of arch Climate Change denier and one time Tory Cabinet Minister, Nigel Lawson. The younger Lawson’s brother-in-law, and Brenchley and Rosa’s younger sibling is none other than ‘former’ MI6 Agent Anthony Monckton, formerly based in the British embassy in Belgrade and regarded as “the uncrowned king of the intelligence agencies” in the Balkans prior to being ‘outed‘ by sources whose true identities are still to this day unclear.
Followers of Scientists for XR should have noticed that a key player in their activists’ group, Dr. Emily Grossman, has this week been involved in dialogue with Labour’s Mayor for London, Sadiq Khan. For members of XR who aren’t in the know, Sadiq Khan is well known for his links to the Neoliberal wing of the Labour Party as manifest in the late Tessa Jowell M.P. and others. Indeed, his connections with Tessa’s sometime estranged husband, fellow former lawyer David Mills, are not only well documented, but should be a cause for concern for anyone who is worried about the Ecological Crisis and Ecocide generally.
Those who have followed Mills over the years will be aware of his links to a web of international intrigue and toxic pollution linked to the illicit dumping of nuclear waste; itself the subject of a controversial and eventually suppressed report by Greenpeace into this illegal trade.
